Terms of use

A short, honest agreement about what we do and what we do not promise. Revision of 6 September 2026.

The service is at an early stage, and data can be lost. Keep your original: gate4.ai is a copy and a search index, not the only place your notes live.

What the service is

gate4.ai keeps a copy of your notes and gives an AI assistant access to it over MCP. By using the service you agree to these terms and to the privacy policy.

Your account

You create the account yourself on the sign-up page. It works before the email address is confirmed — confirming it unlocks nothing — but confirm it when convenient, because a forgotten password is answered by a link sent to that address and to no other. You are responsible for keeping your passwords and for what happens under your account. There are two passwords and they are different: the one for the cabinet, and the sync password that goes into the plugin, which is shown once when it is issued.

Early stage: what that means in practice

The database is backed up once a day. There is no transaction log archive and no point-in-time recovery yet, which means a server failure can lose up to a day of changes: the most recently uploaded notes, the index and the journal entries. The note files live in object storage and are not covered by that caveat — but we give no guarantee about them either.

We do not promise the service will not change: at an early stage both features and limits move. We give notice before anything that touches your data.

What you may do

What you may not do

What it costs

Nothing, for now. There are no paid plans yet, we take no payments and ask for no card details.

The plan is a free tier with one vault and a cap on the number of notes in the index (search and reading), and a paid one with no cap, with writing and versions. That is a plan and not a price promise. When plans start we will give notice in advance; an existing account will not be moved onto a paid plan silently, and exporting your data stays available either way.

No guarantees

The service is provided as is. We do not promise uninterrupted operation, the safety of your data, or that the service fits your purposes. The availability target is 99.5%, but that is a target and not an obligation. Liability is limited as far as the applicable law allows.

Suspending an account

We may suspend or close an account if it breaks the service for others, is used for something unlawful, or breaches “What you may not do”. Except where delay is dangerous or the law forbids notice, we write to the account's address first. A copy of your data can be collected after a suspension too.

Leaving

Delete the account from the cabinet: it takes the notes, the vaults, the sync passwords and every assistant grant with it, immediately. If you do not want to delete the account but do want to close access, revoke the clients in the cabinet and turn off the sync plugin.

Changes to these terms

The revision date is at the top of the page. We give notice of material changes by letter to the account's address, in advance. Continuing to use the service after a change takes effect means you accept it; if you do not, delete the account, which is always free.

Governing law

The same honest gap as in the privacy policy: the operator's legal entity has not been registered, so we have nothing to name as the governing law or the way disputes are resolved — it will be written here when it exists, and the revision date updated. Until then we settle questions by writing to support@gate4.ai. These terms do not limit your rights under the law of your own country.
